  • Supermoon Over St Peter Chanel<br />
<br />
The moon was at its closest to the earth or perigee this evening. Local moonrise there in Roswell, Georgia was 8:18pm EDT.<br />

  • Flash Splash<br />
<br />
Its simplicity belies my struggle to capture the effect. I had originally imagined somthing completely different. But I'll go with this one for today.
  • Guinness<br />
<br />
This evening was Margaret's first prom. So, Amy and I took comfort together at Slate Table & Tap in downtown Roswell.<br />
<br />
I will add that the photo is rotated 180deg. It was easier for me, while simultaneously holding the camera and glass, to have the light opposite me casting a shadow towards me. In the posted photo, it is reversed.<br />

  • We went for a walk yesterday afternoon at Gibb's Garden. What a treat... Thousands of Daffodils are blooming. In fact, there is an entire field of them planted further up this hill.<br />
<br />
In the photo, I think it's tough to tell where the edge of the water is... except in certain places, like the small rock right of center and where branches meet the water surface. Otherwise, the two scenes blend almost seamlessly. Of course, the reflection is above.
  • The End, My Only Friend<br />
<br />
Let's hope not, Jim...<br />
<br />
This is the second exposure of three. Paint is poured into a water filled round bottom glass. The flash is off-camera and extremely close. The image is split-toned and inverted 180 degrees. The curvature at the top of the frame is the bottom of the glass.
  • Birdie Drama<br />
<br />
Lots of activity today at the feeder. It's finally cold here this year. Today I had to keep reminding myself that it's only February. Strong winds too. The birds must know something we don't.

These Herons or Cranes were circling our neighborhood most of the afternoon. Not sure what was going on but they looked like they were migrating. I was sure these were Great Blue Herons when I took the photo. Since then, I've gotten closer shots and they look more like Sand Hill Cranes. <br />

With FlightAware software on my iPhone, I figure that the aircraft was Aeromexico Aerovias Flight AMX6 From Paris to Mexico City... just under a 12-hour direct flight. They say it's a 767-200 which has a wing span of 156'. The Blue Heron or Sand Hill Crane span is about 6'. Using the lens focal length (250mm), I estimate that the 767 altitude is about 45,000' and the birds are at 3,000'.
